Connect X with your own API keys
X (Twitter) charges for API posting on a pay-per-use basis — roughly $0.015 per post, and $0.20 per post that contains a link, billed by X to the developer account that owns the API keys. So SchedulSmart posts to X with your keys: you control your own spend, directly with X.
1. Create an X developer account
Go to console.x.com and sign in with the X account you want to post from. Accept the developer terms.
2. Create an App
In the console, open Apps → Create App. Any name works (e.g. "My SchedulSmart"). In its Settings → Authentication settings choose:
- App permissions: Read and write
- Type of App: Web App, Automated App or Bot (confidential client)
3. Add SchedulSmart's callback URL
In the same Authentication settings, add this exact URL to Callback URI / Redirect URL (and put https://www.schedulsmart.com as the Website URL), then save:
https://www.schedulsmart.com/api/connect/x/callback
4. Copy the OAuth 2.0 Client ID and Client Secret
On the app's Keys & Tokens page, under OAuth 2.0 Keys: copy the Client ID, and generate/copy the Client Secret (X shows it once — store it safely).
5. Add credits to your X account
X posting is prepaid: in the console go to Billing → Credits → Purchase credits (from $5; credits never expire). Without credits, X rejects posts with a "credits depleted" error.
6. Paste the keys into SchedulSmart
In Settings → X (Twitter) API keys, paste the Client ID and Client Secret and save. The secret is stored encrypted (AES-256) and never shown again. Then head to Channels and connect X.
